If you are looking to trim down and lose some weight then you will probably know that one of the most difficult parts to a healthy lifestyle, is sticking to it. Thankfully we live in the digital age and there are many fitness apps which you can use to not only stay on track, but also to measure your progress, help you exercise and ultimately help you to reach your goals.
I have tried and tested many of these fitness apps and here are my top 5 which I think you should download to support your healthy lifestyle.
My Fitness Pal
This is like the Swiss Army Knife of health apps and I absolutely love it. Using this app you can upload the foods which you eat each day, and track your calories, you can also input the exercise which you make that will also indicate how many calories you have burned. You can scan foods in using barcodes and you can also get a comprehensive breakdown of the vitamins and minerals which you have taken on, and which you still need. A great application.
One of my favorite ways of working out, especially when I’m on the road, is with interval training and the Hit Timer, is the best way to stay on top of this. The app features many different interval timers that you can use such as Tabata, and you can even link your music in via the app so that you can have some beats on as you workout.
Couch to 5K
When traveling, access to a gym is not always easy and so the most basic form of exercise is to run. I am not a strong runner and so this Couch to 5K app is perfect as it takes you running in intervals for 20 minutes, starting off slow and after some weeks of using it, getting you up to 5 km.
Sometimes we all need a little bit of gentle encouragement that it is time to workout, or to keep pushing when we are working out and that is exactly what Fitocracy will give you. This handy app has a huge library of different workouts built-in, depending on how much time you have, and how intense a workout you are looking for. The thing I love most about this app is the constant encouragement and motivation which it gives you as you start tho feel the burn.
The Weight Watchers way of losing weight is highly acclaimed and has been incredibly successful the world over. The application to support the Weight Watchers method is very easy to use and is absolutely jam packed with information. I love to use this app when I go away so that I can see the true nutritional value of food, and make my mind up as to whether it is for me. A diet is easy to stick to when you are using this application.
